I have been a phone sex operator for a while - next year will be my fourteenth anniversary as a "PSO" (with a break for a few years in my late 20's...) Throughout the course of my career, when the subject of my work comes up with non-industry folks, I often hear "What kind of freaks do you have to talk to?" and "Don't only losers who can't get laid call phone sex lines?"

Now, I don't know about the "can't get laid" part, because as far as I can tell, there is no guy on earth who gets laid as frequently, and by as many different women, as he would like to. But as for the loser part, I can certainly tell you that that is absolutely wrong.

Calling a phone sex line is not that much different from masturbating to porn - except it includes an interactive element that is absent in solo porn viewing. I think in this regard, it's even healthier and un-loserlike than porn viewing (which I personally think is perfectly heathy), which of course we know almost all men do, according to the financial statistics of the porn industry.

Generalizations are unwise to make, and of course there are exceptions to any rule, however it's been my experience that the men who call phone sex lines are on a higher fantasy/erotic level than most men. Their sexuality largely takes place in their minds - and ask any woman, she'll tell you that her biggest erogenous zone is her brain. In that way, we women are more likely to get along sexually with men who call phone sex lines, than with men who prefer to jerk to porn photos and movies.

Most of the men who call us are between healthy relationships, or are in a long term relationship and exploring with us on the phone, sexual subjects which their partners just aren't interested in. Phone sex provides an outlet for safe, disease-free exploration of fetishes and interests, without physically going outside of the established relationship.

And as for the myth that the average phone sex caller is some low-paid, blue-collar, grungy guy - no way! If I had to classify our callers as a group, I'd say they are mostly middle to upper-class, professional, white collar, intelligent and creative individuals who occasionally want more out of sexuality than 3-D can provide.

And I think there is absolutely nothing "loserlike" about that.

Most of my callers are very interesting to talk to, knowledgeable about many subjects, successful in their careers, and all around quality guys.

And no, I am not just saying this to get you to call!

I am saying this, speaking from experience with hundreds of phone sex callers during thousands of calls, to tell the general population, that the average phone sex caller is definitely not a loser who can't get laid.

He's just a guy who likes jacking off - and wants some company while he does it.

And ain't nothin' wrong with that, as far as I'm concerned.
